Description
Hi! I offer music lessons in voice, guitar, ukulele, beginner piano, and Native American flute, songwriting, performance and band leading. I’d love to work together in growing understanding of music, its mechanisms, our bodies as instruments and how to play them. How do we get in tune so that Spirit may move through us, whatever the art form.
I teach all ages and have been teaching for 11 years. Along with giving private lessons, I also teach music at the Academy of Arts and Knowledge and the Boys and Girls Club through the fabulous non-profit organization, Off the Hook Arts.
I am a classically and jazz trained vocalist, though I sing all genres. I love to explore different languages, world music, cultures and traditions. I sing songs in about 12 of them 🙂 ! I have been through a long journey from injuring my voice to finding my way to sustainable performance. I have studied with many excellent and well esteemed vocal coaches and professors, some of whom include Ron Browning (who works Alison Krause, Josh Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet, Wynonna Judd, and more), Kate Emerich, and Suzanne Morrison. I have narrowed in on some very effective techniques on both singing and speaking vocal health. Come explore and open up your voice with me.
I have been playing guitar for 22 years. I can help you understand key elements of a good rhythm guitarist, basic chords and how to expand those across the neck of the guitar, some folk, blues, jazz, latin, soul, and rock n roll.
I have been playing
Ukulele has been a fun addition to my repertoire of instruments, along with a homemade bamboo flute crafted by my dear friend and talented artist, Dimitri Zaugg.
Thank you for dropping in, I look forward to working with you.
